Match 5 sees the Australian women take on the Sri Lankan women at the WACA ,The 2 captains Meg Lanning and Chamari Athapaththu made there way out to the centre for the toss ,the Sri Lankans called it and decided to bat ,the Sri Lankans openers Hasini Madushika + Chamari Athapaththu make there way out the crease to face up to Aussie opening bowlers Megan Schutt and Ellyse Perry .Hasini Madushika faced up and on the third ball played a shot and was out caught by Mooney for a DUCK of the bowling of Megan Schutt ,Sri Lanka are now 1/0 ,the incoming batter is Umasha Thimeshani and this partnership over the next 6 overs added 38 runs before Umasha Thimeshani played a shot and was out caught by Jess Jonnsen of the bowling of Nicola Carey for 20 runs ,Sri Lanka are now 2/38 ,the incoming batter is Anushka Sanjeewani and over the next 7 overs put together a partnership of 53 runs before opener Chamari Athapaththu was out caught by skipper Lanning off the bowling of Nicola Carey ,Sri Lanka are now 3/91 ,the next batter to the crease is Nilakski De Silva ,this partnership added 10 runs to the total before Anushka Sanjeewani was out caught by Kimmince off the bowling of Jess Jonasson for 25 runs ,Sri Lanka are now 4/101 in the seventeenth over.Ama Kanchama is the new batter to the crease unfortunately 2 balls later she was out caught by Perry off the bowling of Molly Strano for a DUCK ,the Sri Lankans are now 5/101.The next batter to the centre is Shashikala Sirawardene who with Nilakski De Silva ,this pair added 19 runs before Nilakski Sirawardene went down the pitch to play a ball and missed and out stumped by Healy off the bowling of Jess Jonasson for 18 runs ,Sri Lanka are now 6/120,the next batter to the cease is Harshitha Madavi who added 2 runs to take the total to 122 runs of the 20 overs.Charmi Athapaththu was the stand out batter for Sri Lanka getting 50 runs ,with Umasha Thimeshami (20),Anushka Sanjeewani (25) and Nilaski De Silva (18) contributing to the total .Aussie bowlers Nicola Carey ( 2/18) and Molly Strano (2/23) were the pick of the Australian bowlers with Megan Schutt and Jess Jonnason each picking up a wicket a piece .
Australian openers Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney made their way to the centre to face up to Sri Lankan opening bowlers Udeshika Prabodhani and Shashikala Sirawardene ,Alyssa Healy took strike but on the second ball of the innings she misjudged it and was clean bowled for a DUCK ,the Aussies are now 1/0 in the first over ,Ashliegh Gardner is the incoming batter to join Beth Mooney but this partnership added 8 runs before Ashliegh Gardner was cleaned bowled for 2 runs ,the Aussies are now 2/8 .The incoming batter is skipper Meg Lanning ,this partnership added 2 runs before Beth Mooney went down the wicket to play a ball and missed and was out stumped for 6 runs ,the Aussies are now 3/10 in the fourth over ,Rachel Haynes is the incoming batter and together these two experienced batters put on a 95 run partnership before Rachel Haynes went down the wicket to play a shot and missed and was out stumped of the bowling Shashikala Sirawardene for 60 runs ,the Aussies are 4/105 .Nicola Carey is the new batter to the crease to join Meg Lanning, these 2 batters put on a 13 run partnership to take the total to 118 before Nicola Carey was out clean bowled of the bowling of Charmari Athapaththu for 5 runs ,the Australians are now 5/118 .With 7 balls remaining and the Aussies needing 5 runs to win ,it was Ellyse Perry who came to the wicket to join Meg Lanning in getting the 5 runs ,Meg Lanning remained 41 not out while Ellyse Perry was 5 not out .Rachel Haynes was the pick of the Aussie Batters making 60 runs with skipper Meg Lanning making 41 runs.The partnershipof Rachel Haynes and Meg Lanning put Australia in the box seat .The pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers was Udeshika Prabodhani and Shashikala Siriwardene each picking up 2 wickets a piece with Chamari Athapaththu getting a wicket.
