On a sunny day here in Perth WA and before some 1500 spectator the first Marsh One day game came to the WACA in a match between Western Australia and Tasmania (men) ,the two captains Ashton Turner and Jordan Silk made their way out to the pitch for the toss ,it was WA skipper Ashton Turner that called it and elected to bat sending Tasmania out into the field .Josh Philippe and Sam Whiteman made their way out to take centre ,the Tassie skipper throw the new ball to Sam Rainbird who opened ,the WA openers were having a look at how the ball was moving off the pitch ,then in at the start of the 3rd over the ball from Sam Rainbird moved and hit the pad of Josh Philippe who was then given out LBW for a duck ,WA are now 1 for 2 , Shaun Marsh is the incoming batter who with Sam Whiteman added 8 runs before Sam Played at a ball and missed judged it ,hit his pad and was given LBW to Riley Meredith for 3 runs ,WA are now 2/10 in the 4th over .Cameron Green is the next batter to come out to take centre and together with Shaun Marsh put on only 6 runs before Cameron Green played at ball ,misjudged it ,hit his pads and he was heading back to the pavilion out LBW for 5 runs off the bowling of Riley Meredith ,WA are now 3/16 after 5 over’s and in deep trouble . WA skipper Ashton Turner made his way out to the centre to join Shaun Marsh and if ever they needed a captains knock its now .Together these 2 batters over the next 10 over’s added 39 much needed runs to take the total to 53 before Shaun Marsh played at a shot that went to Caleb Jewell who was happy to catch the catch ,Shaun Marsh was out caught for 15 runs WA are now 4/53 runs in the seventeenth over .D’Arcy Short is the next batter to make his way out to the crease ,together with skipper Ashton Turner the pair took the total to 58 before D’Arcy Short was out caught by Caleb Jewell off the bowling of Riley Meredith for 5 runs ,WA are now 5/58 and in deeper trouble .Hilton Cartwright came out to join the skipper Ashton Turner who was seeing the ball really well ,this partnership was to last just over 7 over’s before Hilton Cartwright was out caught by Ben McDermott off the bowling of Tom Andrews for 10 runs ,WA are now 6/78 in the 25th over .The next batter is Matthew Kelly who made the trip out to the crease ,together with the skipper they added just 3 runs before Matthew Kelly was caught by Ben McDermott off the bowling of Peter Siddle for 3 runs ,Western Australia are now 7/81 .Andrew Tye is the incoming batter and together with Ashton Turner the pair steadied the ship and gradually started to lift the run rate ,in the 8 over’s the pair batted they put on 59 runs before Andrew Tye was out caught by Caleb Jewell off the bowling of Beau Webster for 44 well made runs hit from 31 balls ,WA are now 8/140 in the 35th over .Jason Behrendorff is the next batter to make his way out to join Ashton Turner ,during the 10 over partnership the pair added 61 runs ,Ashton Turner got his century ,but in the 45th over Ashton Turner was caught by Wiley Meredith for 100 runs off 121 balls hitting 14 boundaries ,WA are now 9/211 .Liam Guthrie is the next batter to make his way to the crease ,this partnership lasted for 7 runs before Jason Behrendorff was out caught by Jordan Silk off the bowling of Peter Siddle for 23 runs ,Western Australia are all out for 218 runs off 47.1 over’s ,Tassie bowlers all chipped in to get wickets with Peter Siddle ,Riley Meredith picking up 3 wickets apeice .The best of the WA batters was skipper Ashton Turner who got his ton ,then Andrew Tye made 44 runs with Jason Behrendorff.
Tasmanian opening batters Ben McDermott and Caleb Jewell made their way out to the centre , Tasmania needing 219 runs to win in their 50 over’s ,Western Australian bowler Jason Behrendorff was given the new ball .This pair added 19 runs to the score before Caleb Jewell was out clean bowled by Jason Behrendorff,Tassie were now 1/19 ,Mac Right is the incoming batter for the Tassie Devils ,6 balls later Mac Wright was heading back to the pavilion after being caught by Shaun Marsh off the bowling of Matthew Kelly for a Duck (0),Tasmania are now 2/22 ,the new batter to make the trip to the crease is Tassie skipper Jordan Silk ,over the next 12 overs this partnership put on 78 runs to take Tasmania to 100 before Ben McDermott was caught by D’Arcy Short off the bowling Andrew Tye for 57 runs ,Tassie are now 3/100.Jake Doran is the incoming batter to come out and join Jordan Silk ,2 overs later Jake Doran making his way back to the pavilion after being caught by Josh Philippe off the bowling of Andrew Tye for 1 run ,Tassie are now 4/106 in the 20th over . Beau Webster is the new batter to make his way out to the centre to partner the Tassie skipper ,this partnership added 80 runs in 17 overs before Beau Webster was out caught by Matthew Kelly for 39 well made runs ,Tasmania are now 5/186 .Having 13 over’s left to make the remaining 33 runs to win.Mitchell Owen is the next batter to walk out to take centre ,unfortunately this partnership lasted only for 6 runs before Mitchell Owen was out after being clean bowled by Andrew Tye.Tasmania are now 6/192 with 11 overs remaining for the 26 runs .Next batter to the crease is Tom Andrews who with Jordan Silk took the total to 221 in the 43.5 over to take the win ,Jordan Silk remained not out on 90 with Tom Andrews getting 14 not out .Tassie batters Jordan Silk,Ben McDermott and Beau Webster were the major contributors for Tasmania’s innings .The best bowlers for Western Australia were Andrew Tye after getting 44 runs then picking up 4 for 39 off his 10 over’s ,Jason Behrendorff and Matthew Kelly each picked up a wicket each.
