The Cricket Australia X1 came to the WACA to take on the Pakistani mens team in a 2 day match,the Australian young guns team consisted of Jake Doran (Tas-C + WK) ,Jake Carder (WA),Jayden Goodwin(WA),Matt Spoors(WA),Jonthan Merlo(VIC),Brad Hope (WA),Daniel Drew(SA),Tim Oakley(SA),David Grant(SA),Mitch Perry(VIC),Lloyd Pope(SA),Tom O’Connell ,the team was coached by Chris Rodgers ,of these 11 players only 5 had played first class cricket, so for the CA X1 team this match will be a chance to get some valuable experiece playing an International team Pakistan.The Pakistan team consisted of Abid Ali,Imam ul Haq,Ahan Masood,Haris Sohail,Asad Shafiq (C),Babar Azam,Mohammond Rizwan (WK),Kashif Bhatti,Naseem Shah,Mohammod Abbas,Muhammod Musa,Yasir Shah,Iftikhar Ahmed,Shaheen Afridi,Imran Khan.
The two captains went out and tossed the coin and it was Pakistan that called it and went out to bat ,coming out to take centre was Imam ul Haq and Abid Ali ,CA X1 skipper threw the new ball to Victorian Mitchell Perry ,David Grant opened from the other end and on his third ball had batter Abid Ali caught behind for a duck ,Pakistan were now ½ ,then over the next 6 overs this bowled to keep the visitors to 1/27 .With bowlers being changed regularly due to the heat ,Bradley Hope and Tim Oakley came on and over the next 5 overs bowled well to kept the score to 1/47 .Jonathan Merlo came onto replace Tim Oakley and the pair bowled fairly well the keep the tourists to 1/63 of 18 overs.Lloyd Pope South Australian spinner was brought into the the attack from the Prindiviile stand end and after 2 overs had the wicket of Imam ul Haq for 44 ,Pakistan are now 2/72 .Harris Sohail is the incoming batter to partner Shan Masood ,2 overs later Lloyd Pope had the wicket of Haris Sohail caught for 2 ,Pakistan are now 3/80 ,incoming batter Mohammad Rizwan with Shan Masood added 40 runs over the next 12 overs before Mohammad Rizwan was caught of the bowling of Lloyd Pope for 22 runs ,Pakistan are now 4/120 ,Asad Shafiq is the incoming batter , the CA X1 bowlers were bowling well to keep the tourists to modest totals ,Lloyd was given a rest and Tim Oakley came on ,then in the 45th over Oakley had the much needed wicket of Shan Masood who was caught for 76 runs ,Pakistan are now 5/164.Babar Azam came out to the crease ,dispite various bowling changes this pair put on 117 runs in 23 overs before Babar Azam was caught for 63 runs of 66 balls,Pakistan are 6/281.New batter Iftikhar Ahmed came out to join inform batter Asad Shifiq who was putting on a chancless display ,4 overs on and Iftikhar Ahmed played at a ball from Lloyd Pope and was caught for 5,Pakistan are 7/291.The new batter to come and take centre is Kashif Bhatti and together with Asad Shafiq over the next 28 overs put together a partnership of 95 runs to put the visitors at 7/386 off 90 overs ,stumps are called and the Pakistani team declare .The best of the Aussie young gun bowlers was Lloyd Pope who took 5/100 of his 24 overs
Coming out to bat on the Saturday the CA young gun openers Jake Carder and Jayden Goodwin made their way out to the centre where they faced up to Pakistani openers Mohammod Abbas and Muhammod Musa ,in the 4th over Jake Carder played at a ball from Mohammad Abbas missed and was bowled for duck ,Australia are 1 /2 ,Matthew Spoors is the next batter to take centre .In the next over Muhammad Musa bowled a good length ball and had Jayden Goodwin caught for 6 runs ,Australia are now 2/6 ,incoming batter is Jonathan Merlo and despite using various bowlers over the next 36 overs this pair put on a 122 run stand before Jonathan Merlo was caught for 78 runs ,Australia are now 3/128.The incoming batter is keeper Jake Doran ,in the47thover Doran played at a ball and was caught behind for 3 runs ,the Aussies are now 4/140,Bradley Hope is the new batter to take centre and over the next 10 overs added 25 runs ,then in the 57thover Matthew Spoors was caught off a ball from Imran Khan for well made 58 runs,the Aussies are now 5/165 ,Daniel Drew is the new batter to come out and take centre ,9 overs later Daniel Drew was on his way back to the pavillion after being caught for 15 runs,the Aussie young guns are now 6/194.Tom O’Connell came out to join Bradley Hope in the run chase but after 5 overs O’Connell was caught in front and went Lbw to Iftikhar Ahmed for 8 runs ,the Aussies are 7/209 .Mitchell Perry is the batter to come out and join Bradley Hope then together the pair took the total to 246 runs in the 80th over .The game was then called and it was a draw ,Bradley Hope was unbeaten on 50 not out with Mitchell Perry on 22 not out .It was a credit to the Aussie young guns with Matthew Spoors getting 58,Jonathan Merlo hitting 78 and Matthew Spoors 50.The best of the Pakistan bowlers were Mohammad Abbas and Muhammod Musa picking up 2 wickets each.
