The Perth Scorchers and the Hobart Hurricanes return to Lilac Hill for the second match of their double header in the festival of Cricket ,in the previous match the Hobart Hurricanes had little trouble in defeating the Scorchers who didn’t put enough runs on the board.Hurricanes skipper Corrine Hall along with Scorchers skipper Meg Lanning made their way out to the middle for the bat flip ,again Corrine Hall called it and the Hurricanes won the flip and elected to put the Sorchers into to bat ,the new ball was thrown to Belinda Vakarewa with Tayla Vlaeminck coming in from the other end ,coming out to open for the Perth Scorchers are skipper Meg Lanning and Nicole Bolton who will be looking for a better result than yesterdays performance ,the openers weren’t going to make the same mistakes as they did in the previous days play ,they started of slowly and not playing any rash shots ,then as the overs went the openers started to attack the bowling ,after the first 10 overs the Scorcher girls are 0/86 with Skipper Meg Lanning and Nicole Bolton putting the bowlers all over the ground ,the Scorchers 100 came up in the 12th over and were looking at a total of 160-180 runs .The opener batters were taking runs easily until in the 18th over when skipper Meg Lanning was caught off the bowling of Chloe Tyron for 101runs off 67 balls ,the Scorchers are now 1/154 ,the new batter to make her way out to join Nicole Bolton is Kim Garth ,after adding 8 runs to the total Kim Garth was out bowled off the bowling of Nicola Carey for 2 runs ,the Scorchers are now 2/162 ,with only 5 balls remaining Georgia Redmayne made her way out to join Nicole Bolton who 2 balls later swung at a ball and was caught off the bowling of Chloe Carey for a well made 44 runs off 46 balls,the Scorchers are now 3/167 .Chloe Piparo made her way to join Georgia Redmayne ,after being caught short Chloe Piparo was run out for 3 runs ,the Scorchers finished on 3/167 off their 20 overs .Skipper Meg Lanning innings was the best she had played for some time in getting 101 runs off just 67 balls with 12-4’s and 3-6’s ,Nicole Bolton's stand of 44 runs off 46 balls played impressive and supporting to role to Meg Lanning .Nicola Carey was the stand out bowler for the Hurricane's taking 2 wickets off her 4 overs.
Hurricane openers Erin Fazackerley and Nicola Carey made their way out the crease knowing that the Hurricanes needed to get just over 8 runs an over to take the win.Scorcher opening bowlers Nicole Bolton was thrown the new ball with Taneale Perchel coming in from the other end .On the second ball of the opening over Erin Frazackerley was out stumped off the bowling of Nicole Bolton ,the Hurricanes are now 1/0 ,the incoming batter is International Heather Knight who with opener Nicola Carey took the Hurricanes total to 1/65 off the 10 overs , Nicola Carey then was out caught off the bowling of Nicole Bolton ,the Hurricanes are now 2/65.The incoming batter is Chloe Tyron ,9 balls later Heather Knight was heading back to the pavillion after being caught off the bowling of Heather Graham for 36 runs ,the Hurricanes are now 3/69 and looking like giving bthe Scorchers a run for their money.The incoming batter is Fran Wilson who joined Chloe Tyron at the crease ,6 balls later Chloe Tyron was heading back to the pavillion after being caught off the bowling of Samantha Betts for 5 runs ,the Hurricanes are now 4/76 in the 13th over.The next batter to walk out to the crease is skipper Corrine Hall ,2 overs later Fran Wilson was out caught of the bowling of Taneale Perschel for 10 runs ,the Hobart Hurricanes are 5/91.With only just under 5 overs remaining 77 runs need to take the victory Sasha Moloney made her way out to join Corrine Hall ,this partnership lasted for 2 runs before Sasha Moloney was caught off the bowling of Taneale Perchel for 1 run ,the Hurricanes are now 6/93 .Maisy Gibson is the incoming batter to join Corrine Hall who over the next 5 overs only added 39 runs falling short of the Perth Scorcher total by 36 runs .Hurricane batters Corrine Hall and Heather Knight contributed with 28 + 36 runs respectively ,the Scorcher bowlers bowled well to restrict the Hurricanes to their total,Taneal Perschel and Samantha Betts each picking up 2 wickets a piece .
Player of the Match went to Perth Scorcher skipper Meg Lanning for her outstanding knock of 101 runs off 67 balls.
