The Melbourne Renagades made the trek over the Nullabor to take on the Perth scorchers in match 16 of the Rebel WBBL match at the home of WA Cricket the WACA ,Captains Meg Lanning and Renagades skipper Jess Duffin made their way out to the centre for the bat toss ,Meg Lanning got the call and elected to send the vistitors into bat .The Renegades opening batters Sophie Molineux and Danni Wyatt came out to face up ,while Scorcher bowler Kim Garth was thrown the new ball ,these Renegade batters have been in good form with either of them capable of punishing any ball that’s loose .Garth came ran in and delivered the first ball which was a perfect length to be hit ,4 runs to Sophie Molineux ,Danni Wyatt not be outdone belted another 4 later in the over,11 runs were taken of the first over .The next bowler to open from the other end was Piepa Cleary who didpite keeping the line tight went for 8 runs off her first over .Garth came on for her 2nd over and dispite putting the balls up at a good length she conceded 7 runs. The enxt Scorcher bowler to line up was Taneal Peschel .Peschel delivered her first ball to Danni Wyatt who immediately sent the ball to the boundry ,the Renagade batters were seeing the ball really well ,Peschel conceded 8 runs from the over.Cleary came on and again the openers got into anything that wasn’t online and length this over yeiled 10 runs.In the next over there was a bowler change with Heather Graham coming on and on the 3rd ball had Sophie Molinuex caught for 20 off 17 balls ,the Renegades were now 1/49 ,the incoming batter is Tammy Beaumont who together with Danni Wyatt over the coming overs took the Renegades total to 134 off the 15 overs,Danni Wyatt had a sold innings and remained 74 not out with Tammy Beaumont on 30 not out .Due the weather and rain delays the match was shortened from 20 to 15 overs. The Scorchers used 6 bowlers with Taneale Peschel being the most economical .
The Perth Scorcher’s skipper Meg Lanning and International Amy Jones came out to face up to the Renegades Lea Tahuhu ,the Scorchers started off with 6 runs off the over, then in the second over Sophie Molinuex bowled a tight line to restrict the Scorchers to just 2 runs ,in the next over Lea Tahuhu had 6 runs taken from it ,after 5 overs the Scorchers were 0/47 .In the first ball of the over from Georgia Wareham Amy Jones went foward to play a drive and was stumped by keeper Dooley for 23 runs ,the Scorchers are now 1/47 .The incoming batter is Natalie Sciver who took centre and played at her first ball missed it and was bowled for a duck ,the Scorchers are now 2/47 with Renegades bowler Georgia Wareham on a hat trick ,incoming Scorcher batter is Nicole Bolton who with Meg Lanning were looking to see the team take the points ,but with the weather again looking like more rain delays the overs have now been reduced to 7 overs ,the Scorchers are 2/60 and need the batters to do some big hitting ,so Meg Lanning stepped up and hit 2 fours then on the final ball put bowler Molly Strano over the fence for 6 giving the Perth Scorchers victory .The Perth Scorchers won by 8 wickets(The DLS method was used ) Lea Tahuhu was the most econicmal Renegade bowler with Georgia Wareham taking the only two Scorcher wickets ,Scorcher batter Meg Lanning remained on 44 not out and was awarded Player of the match for her contribution .There were many rain interuptions during this match but the Scorchers remained focused during their innings which put them over the line to take the points.
