Before a crowd of 29,380 cricket fans the captains went out the centre for the bat flip ,Mitchell Marsh called it and decided to bat sending skipper Chris Lynn and the Brisbane heat out to field .The new ball was thrown to James Pattinson,while Perth Scorcher openers Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone walked out to do battle,Josh Inglis faced up and made his intentions known straight off by taking 16 runs of the first over ,this partnership lasted 3 overs before Josh Inglis misjudged a slower ball and was caught and bowled for 28 runs off 14 balls ,the Scorchers are now 1/39.The incoming batter is Sam Whiteman and together with Liam Livingstone added 27 runs before Sam Whiteman was caught of the bowling Ben Laughlin for 4 runs ,the Scorchers are now 2/66 .Scorchers skipper Mitch Marsh is the new batter to the crease and over the next 22 balls with Liam Livingstone added 23 runs before Livingstone was caught off the spinner Zahir Khan for 39 runs off 31 balls,the Scorchers are now 3/89 in the eleventh over .Cameron Bancroft is the incoming batter who came out to join skipper Mitch Marsh ,over the next 9 overs these batters put on 124 run partnership of which Cameron Bancroft contributed 41 runs off 29 balls including 3 sixes ,skipper Mitch Marsh belted 93 runs of 41 balls which included 3 fours and 8 sixes of which 3 came off the last Ben Laughlin over ,both batters remained not out ,the Scorchers hit a record score for the Optus Stadium 213 runs.Khan,Lalor and Laughlin shared the wickets ,the Heats most economical bowler was Ben Cutting who ended up having only gone for 24 runs off his 4 overs.
Brisbane Heat openers Tom Banton and Max Bryant came out to open , Scorcher opening bowler Jhye Richardson took the new ball while Joel Paris opened from the other end ,in the third over Max Bryant was caught off the bowling of Jhye Richardson for 5 runs off his 6 balls ,the Brisbane heat are now 1/35 in the third over,the new batter to make his way out is Heat skipper Chris Lynn who together with Tom Banton took the total to 58 before Chris Lynn was caught of the bowling of Chris Jordan for 14 runs off 9 balls ,the Heat are now 2/58 ,next batter to join Tom Banton is Matthew Renshaw but unfortunately 6 balls later was making his way back to the pavillion after being caught off the bowling of Joel Paris for 1 run ,the Brisbane heat are now 3/65 in the seventh over ,the next batter is Joe Burns and with Tom Banton took the score to 89 before Tom Banton was out caught and bowled of the bowling of Fawad Ahmed for a well made 55 runs in 32 balls ,his innings included 7 fours and 2 sixes ,the heat are now 4/89,bowler Ben Cutting is the incoming batter and together with Joe Burns formed a partnership to take total to 130 before Ben Cutting was caught off the bowling of Joel Paris for 20 runs off 16 balls ,the Brisbane heat are now 5/130 in the fourteenth over .Jimmy Peirson is the incoming batter but after adding 15 runs to the partnership Jimmy Peirson was out bowled to Jhye Richardson for 13 runs off his 9 balls,the heat are now 6/145 in the sixteenth over ,with 68 runs needed of the 22 balls remaining it was going to need a big effort from the remaining batters ,coming out to take centre was James Pattinson ,5 balls later Joe Burns was out Bowled by Chris Jordan for 37 runs the Heat are now 7/151.Josh Lalor is the next batter to hit the crease then due to a mix up James Pattinson was run out for 11 runs of 6 balls ,the Heat are now in deep trouble to be 8/168 with only 9 balls remaining and 45 runs needed .Ben Laughlin is the incoming batter who ended up making 9 not out ,and Josh lalor finished also 9 not out ,the Heat finished 179 runs of its 20 overs ,Scorcher bowlers Richardson,Paris and Jordan ended up with 2 wickets a peice while Ahmed claimed 1wicket .
Player of the Match went to Mitchell Marsh for his highest score in the BBL 93 not out .The Scorcher’s finals hopes were all but washed up then now they’ve won their last 2 games so time will tell.
