The 2 top teams in BBL/12 are here at Optus Stadium to fight it out for the championship,so infront of 53,889 cricket fans the Perth Scorchers and the Brisbane Heat skippers made their way to the centre for the toss ,it was Brisbane Heat skipper Jimmy Peirson the called it and elected to bat first ,putting the Scorchers in the field .Scorcher opening bowler Jason Brehendorff and David Payne were thrown the new ball ,coming out to open for the Heat were Josh Brown and Sam Heazlett ,Brown hit 25 runs off his 12 balls before being caught by AJ Tye off the bowling off David Payne ,Nathan McSweeney came out to partner Sam Heazlett ,this partnership added 79 runs to the total before Sam Heazlett was out caught by David Payne off the bowling off Jason Behrendorff for 34 runs off 30 balls .The next batter to the crease was Heat skipper Jimmy Pearson ,this partnership only lasted for 4 runs before Jimmy Pearson was out caught by Matthew Kelly of the bowling of Jason Brehendorff for 3 runs ,the Heat are now 3/108 ,the next batter is Sam Hain who with Nathan McSweeney added 9 runs before McSweeney was out caught by Cameron Bancroft off the bowling of Aaron Hardie for a well made 41 runs off 37 balls ,the Heat are now 4/117 ,Max Byant is the incoming batter ,this partnership between Hains and Bryant added 42 runs to the total before Max Bryant was out caught by Josh Inglis off the bowling off Matthew Kelly for 31 runs off just 14 balls ,the Heat are now 5/159.Michael Neser came out to join Sam Hain but unfortunately Michael Neser was heading back to the dugout after being caught by Inglis off the bowling of Matthew Kelly for a Duck ,The Heat are now 6/159,James Bazley is the next batter to the crease ,this partnership added only 10 runs before was out caught by Stephen Eskinazi off the bowling of AJ Tye for 5 runs ,the incoming batter is Xavier Bartlett who has 1 ball to face and yep he put it over the fencefor a 6 ,the Brisbane Heat put on 175 runs for their 20 overs .The better of the Scorcher Bowlers were Jason Behrendorf and Matthew Kelly each getting 2 wickets a piece ,David Payne,Aaron Hardie and AJ Tye each getting a wicket a piece.
The Scorcher openers Stephen Eskinazi and Cameron Bancroft made their way out to the centre ,the Scorchers needing 176 runs to win ,the opening Brisbane Heat bowlers Michael Neser was thrown the new ball with Xavier Bartlett who opened from the other end ,the Scorcher batters started off slowly ,but then after 4 overs the batters set off for a run and it was Stephen Eskinazi that took a lazy run and was caught short and was run out for 21 runs off 19 balls ,the Scorchers are 1/32 ,the batter to the crease is Aaron Hardie who added 17 runs off 13 balls before Cameron Bancroft was out caught by Michael Neser off the bowling off Matthew Kuhnemann for 15 runs off 13 balls ,the Scorchers are 2/48 ,this partnership added 16 runs ,Josh Inglis made his way out to the middle to join Aaron Hardie ,Hardie played at ball from Spencer Johnson and was out caught the Scorchers are now 3/54.Scorcher skipper Ashton Turner came out to join Josh Inglis ,over the next 9 overs this partnership added 80 runs to take the total to 134 runs off 16 overs bowled .Josh Inglis played at a ball and was out caught by Sam Heazlett off the bowling of Xavier Bartlett for 26 runs off 22 balls ,the Scorchers are 4/134 .Nick Hobson is the incoming batter ,unfortunately there was a mix up between the batters with both batters up the same end and It was Ashton Turner that was given out ,he put on 53 runs off his 32 balls faced ,the Scorchers are now 5/137.Cooper Connolly is the incoming batter in his 4th BBL match ,the Scorchers need 39 runs in the next 3 overs and in the last over they needed 10 runs to put the Scorchers over the line,Nick Hobson faced up and hit a Six ,then hit a Four and the Scorchers are now the BBL/12 Champions,Nick Hobson hit 18 runs of 7 balls while Cooper Connolly hit 25 runs off his 11 balls .The 53,889 spectators went wild ,the noise could be heard from the Optus Stadium could be heard km’s away,the Scorchers win by 5 wickets ,Go Scorchers
