The WBBL came to the WACA with the Melbourne Renegades taking on the Perth Scorchers in match 17 of the Rebel series ,Again the captains came out to toss the coin and it was Renegade captain Amy Satterwaite who won the toss and sent the home team into bat .Meg Lanning and Elyse Villani came out to open the innings with Renegade quick Lea Tahuhu taking the new ball ,the Scorcher openers made there intentions known from the first ball and over the next 17 overs played the oppisition all over the ground to be at 143 before they lost there first wicket where Elyse Villani was caught for a well made 62 runs ,the Scorchers were now 1/143 ,the next batsmen to come out and take centre was Amy Jones who with Meg Lanning took the score to 157 before Meg Lanning was caught for 75 runs off the bowling of Sophie Molinuex,the Scorchers were now 2/157 .Next batsmen to come out was Nicole Bolton and together with Jones took the total to 172 runs after the 20 overs .Jones remained 6 not out with Bolton 10 not out.
The Renegades came out needing 8.6 runs an over to get the points ,Danni Wyatt and Sophie Molinuex came out and Hayleigh Brennan got the new ball ,the Renegade openers took the score to 49 before Molinuex was caught for 22 off the bowling of Heather Graham,the score was now 1/49 .The next batsmen to the crease was Jess Duffin ,the Renegades weren’t having a lot of trouble pitting runs on the board and it looked like the match was going down to the wire ,with the score on 88 Danni Wyatt was c + b by Taneale Peschel for 42 ,the Renegades were now 2/88. Claire Koski was the next batter to take centre ,together they took the score to 112 before Jess Duffin was cleaned bowled for 35 runs ,the Renegades were now 3/112 .Amy Satterwaite was the new batsmen to take centre ,then when the score was 125 Claire Koski on 5 runs was caught off the bowling of Heather Graham ,score was now 4/125.With 4 overs remaining and the Renegardes needing 48 runs to win ,it was Emma Inglis who took centre and the pair put on 10 runs before Inglis was caught of the bowling off Emma Cross for 2 runs ,the score was now 5/135 with just over 2 overs remaining .Maitlan Brown came out and together with Amy Satterwaite batted out the 20 overs ending up 16 runs short of victory .Today a different Perth Scorchers fronted up and played well to take the win ,Player of the match went to Meg Lanning for her great knock of 75 runs.
