Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers

         The two teams coming into today’s final the Perth Scorchers and the Adelaide Strikers have played consistantly during the WBBER WBBL series and have won the right to play off in the 2021 final here at Optus Stadium .Perth.WA.The weather conditions were overcast and a pleasant 32’.The two captains Tahlia McGrath and Sophie Devine made their way out to the centre for the batflip ,it was Stikers skipper Tahlia McGrath that called it and sent the Perth Scorchers into bat .The tried and trusted Scorchers openers Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney made their way out to the centre  to face up to Striker bowlers Megan Schutt and Darcie Brown .These openers took the total to 52 runs in the 8^th over before Beth Mooney was out caught off the bowling of Tahlia McGrath for 19 runs off 25 balls ,the Scorchers are now 1/52 .The new batter to the crease is Chloe Piparo who with Sophie added 15 runs to the total before there was a misunderstanding between the batters and Sophie Devine was short and run out for 35 runs off her 33 ball’s .The next batter to the crease is Heather Graham ,this partnership lasted for 6 balls before Chloe Piparo was out caught off the bowling of Darcie Brown for 14 runs ,the Scorchers are now 3/75.Marizzane Kapp is the next batter to cross the rope and partner HG ,in just over 5 over’s this partnership added 41 runs to take the total to 116 runs in the 16^th over ,unfortunately it came to an end when  Heather Graham  was out caught off the bowling of Amanda Jade-Wellington for 23 runs ,the Scorchers are now 4/116.The next batter to make her way out is Mathilda Carmichael ,together with Marrizane Kapp the pair added 8 runs before Mathilda Carmichael was out caught of the bowling off Megan Schutt for 2 runs ,the Scorchers are now 5/128 with 8 balls left in their innings.Alana King is the new batter to come out over the rope ,this pair added 18 runs to the total to take the Perth Scorchers to 5/146 0ff their 20 over’s ,Sophie Devine (35),HG(23)  and Marizanne Kapp(31) ,the Strikers bowlers Schutt,Brown,Jade-Wellington and McGrath each claimed wickets .

The Adelaide Strikers opening pair of Katie Mack and Dane Van Keikerk made their way out to take centre to face up to Perth Scorchers opening bowlers Marizanne Kapp and Taneale Peschel .The Strikers started off slowly getting 12 runs off the first 4 over’s ,in the start of the 5^th over it was Katie Mack that was caught out off the bowling of Sophie Devine for 6 runs ,the Strikers are now 1/12 ,the next batter to the crease is Laura Woolvardt to join Dane Van Keikerk ,but the score doesn’t move as Dane Van Keikerk is out caught off the bowling of Taneale Peschel  for 6 runs ,the Strikers are now 2/12 in the 6^th over ,Strikers skipper Tahlia McGrath is the next batter to partner Laura Woolvardt ,this pair over the next 8 over’s this partnership added a much needed 65 runs ,the Strikers were now 2/77 and on track with the Scorchers, next ball Skipper Tahlia McGrath miscued  and was out caught of the bowling off Taneale Peschel  for 36 runs ,the Strikers are now 3/77 in the 13^th over .Bridget Patterson is the new batter to cross the rope to join Laura Woolvardt ,6 balls later it was Laura Woolvardt that was heading back to the pavilion after being caught for 25 runs off the bowling of Heather Graham ,the Strikers are now 4/81.The new batter is Madeline Penna and together this partnership added 24 much needed runs to the Adelaide Strikers total ,unfortunately Bridget Patterson played at a ball and was caught for 17 runs off the bowling of Marizanne Kapp ,the Strikers are now 5/105 in the 16^th over ,the Strikers have 5 wickets in hand needing 21 runs to take the silverware ,so the game can go anyway .New batter to the crease is is Amanda Jade Wellington who with Madeline Penna added 15 runs to take the total to 120 runs before Amanda Jade Wellington was out caught of the bowling of Heather Graham for 4 runs ,the Adelaide Strikers are now 6/120.With 10 balls left in the Strikers innings it was Tegan McPharlin that made her out to the centre ,with 3 balls left in the innings they required 18 runs to win ,the Strkers are 6/134 off their 20 overs .The Perth Scorhers are the new 2021 WEBBER WBBL champions .Adelaide Strikers batters Woolvardt(25),Tahlia McGrath (36) ,Penna (30) and Patterson all contributed to the total but it was the Perth Scorcher bowlers that put the home team in a winning position ,Taneale Peschel picking up 2 with Marizanne Kapp getting 1 and bowling a maiden ,Sophie Devine bowled well to pick up a wicket and also another maiden over ,Heather Graham also picked up 2 wickets.Congratulations to the Perth Scorchers for winning the 2021 WEBBER WBBL championship.
