Western Australia vs Victoria ( Men)

                             It was great to see cricket back at the WACA as its been 4 months since the ground hosted a Sheffield Shield game ,both the Western Australian and Victorian team came to the WACA to play for a spot in the Sheffield Shield final ,the 2 captains Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb made their way out to the centre for the toss ,it was Shaun Marsh that called it and didn’t hesitate to put the Vic’s into bat ,WA opening bowler Joel Paris was thrown the new ball while the two Victorian openers Will Pucovski and Travis Dean made their way out to the crease ,the Vic’s started off cautiously ,but in the second over Travis Dean misjudged a ball and was cleaned bowled for 3 runs the Vic’s are now 1/6 in the second over ,the new batter to the crease is Victorian skipper Peter Handcomb ,this pair added 17 runs in the next 9 over’s before Peter Handscomb was out caught off the bowling Aaron Hardie for 1 run ,Victoria are now  2/23 .The new batter to make his way out is Nic Maddinson ,3 over’s later Will Pucovski edged a ball to the keeper Josh Philippe and was caught behind off the bowling of Matthew Kelly for 22 runs ,the Vic’s are now 3/27 in the 14^th over .The next batter to make his was to the centre is Jake Fraser- McGurk ,this partnership only lasted for 8 balls before Nic Maddinson was caught in front and went Lbw to Aaron Hardie for 4 runs ,the Victorians are now in trouble being 4/31 in the 14th over .The new batter to the crease is Matt Short who with Jake Fraser-McGurk added 13 runs before Fraser-McGurk was out caught off the bowling of Aaron Hardie ,the Vic’s are now 5/44 and are in deep trouble ,Sam Harper is the incoming batter to join Matt Short ,together this pair put on a much needed 47 run partnership before Sam Harper was out caught of the bowling of Matthew Kelly for 18 runs ,the Vic’s are now 6/91 in the 37^th over. James Pattinson is the batter to make his way over the rope ,this partnership only lasted for 14 runs before James Pattinson was cleaned bowled for 1 run of the bowling of Lance Morris ,the Vic’s are now 7/105 in the 40^th over .Will Sutherland is the new batter to join Matt Short ,this partnership lasted for 4 balls before Matt Short was out cleaned bowled by Joel Paris for a much needed 43 runs, the Vic’s are now 8/105 in the 42^nd over ,new batter to the crease is Mitchell Perry ,this partnership lasted for 1 ball before Mitchell Perry was out caught of the bowling of Joel Paris ,Victoria are now 9/105.Cameron McClure is the remaining batter to come to the crease and join Will Sutherland ,this pair added 9 runs to the total before a bad call and Cameron McClure was caught short and run out for a duck ,the Victorians are all out for 114 in the 43^rd over ,Matt Short was the best with the bat with his 43 off 81 balls .The 4 WA bowlers all bowled well and contributed picking up wickets ,Aaron Hardie was the stand out picking up 4/24 off his 12 over’s.

           The WA openers Cameron Bancroft and Sam Whiteman make their way to the crease to face up to Victorian bowler James Pattinson ,over the next 29 over’s this partnership added 94 runs before Sam Whiteman was caught of the bowling of Will Sutherland after making 63 well made runs taking the total to 114 before Cameron Bancroft was caught off the bowling of Mitchell Perry for 38 runs ,WA are now 2/114 .Overnight watchman Matthew Kelly is the next batter to come out and join Marsh, this partnership put on 12 runs before the WA skipper was out caught of the bowling of Will Sutherland for 18 runs ,WA are now 3/126 in the 46^th over .The new batter to the crease is Hilton Cartwright who with Matthew Kelly added 53 runs in their 14 over partnership taking WA’s total to 189 runs before Night Watchman Matthew Kelly was caught off the bowling James Pattinson for a well made 41 off 51 balls .WA are now 4/189 in the 60^th over, Teague Wyllie is the next batter to cross the rope and Join Hilton Cartwright and together this pair had little trouble adding runs to the WA total , Teague Wyllie was caught off the bowling of Will Sutherland for 42 runs ,WA are now 5/292 .Josh Philippe crossed the rope to join Hilton Cartwright ,this partnership lasted just 3 over’s before Josh Philippe was out caught off the bowling of James Pattinson for 4 runs ,WA are now 6/299 in the 91^st over. Aaron Hardie is the next batter and together with Hilton Cartwright added only 8 runs before Aaron Hardie was out lbw to James Pattinson for 4 runs ,WA are now 7/307.The next batter to cross the rope is Joel Paris and together over the next 12 over’s put on a 30 run partnership before Joel Paris was out caught of the bowling of Mitchell Perry for 10 runs ,WA are now 8/337 ,the new batter is Corey Rocchiccioli who came out to join Hilton Cartwright ,the next ball Hilton Cartwright’s innings had come to an end when he was caught in front and was given lbw off the bowling of Cameron McClure for 109 runs off 178 balls, WA are now 9/337 ,new batter over the rope is Lance Morris ,unfortunately he played at a ball and was out lbw to Cameron McClure ,WA are all out for 337 runs in their first innings off 105.2 over’s .WA had some great contributors in Hilton Cartwrights 109 ,Sam Whiteman getting his 63 runs ,night watchman Matthew Kelly’s 41,Teague Wyllie getting 42 and not forgetting Cameron Bancrofts 38 runs. The Victorian bowlers James Pattinson and Will Sutherland each getting 3 wickets while Mitchell Perry and Cameron McClure each got 2 wickets a piece.

              Victorian openers Will Pucovski and Travis Dean made their way out to the centre for Victoria’s second innings to face up to Joel Paris ,this pair slowly added runs to take the total to 26 before Will Pucovski was caught off the bowling of Joel Paris for 11 runs ,Vic’s are 1/26 ,the next batter is the Vic’s skipper Peter Handscomb  ,this partnership lasted for 10 over’s before Travis Dean was out clean bowled off the bowling of Aaron Hardie,the Vic’s are 2/54.The new batter to the crease is Nic Maddinson who lasted 6 balls before going lbw to Matthew Kelly for 5 runs ,Victoria are now 3/59 in 18^th over. Jake Fraser-McGurk is the next batter to cross the rope and together with skipper Peter Handscomb added 20 runs to the Victorian total before Jake Fraser-McGurk went lbw to Joel Paris for 9 runs, the Vic’s are now 4/79 .Matt Short  is the incoming batter to join Peter Handscomb ,Peter Handscomb was out clean bowled by Lance Morris for 20 runs .The Vic’s are now 5/79 ,next batter over the rope is Mitchell Perry and 7 runs later it was Mitchell Perry that was caught off the bowling of Joel Paris for 3 runs ,Victoria are now 6/86 and looking at outright defeat .Sam Harper is the new batter to make his way out to the crease ,this partnership lasted 22 over’s and added 51 much needed runs with Sam Harper getting 35 runs before being caught of the bowling of Aaron Hardie ,the Vic’s are now 7/137.  James Pattinson is the next batter to take centre ,unfortunately this partnership didn’t last and it was Sam Harper that was caught of the bowling of Lance Morris for 17 runs ,Victoria are now 8/151 .Will Sutherland is the next batter over the rope and together with James Pattinson added only 15 runs before Will Sutherland was out caught of the bowling of Lance Morris for 6 runs ,Vic’s are now 9/166 .Cameron McClure is the next batter to take centre and together with James Pattinson added 6 runs before James Pattinson was out clean bowled for 21 runs ,the Victorians are all out for 172 .Western Australia win outright by 51 runs .Victoria batters Matt Short and Travis Dean were the only batters to get a start ,WA bowler Lance Morris picked up 4 wickets with Joel Paris getting 3 wickets Aaron Hardie and Matthew Kelly getting the remaining wickets .
