Player of the Match – Shaun Marsh.

South Australia made their way to the WACA to take on the West Australian men in the Marsh 1 day match ,skippers SA’s  Travis Head and WA’s Ashton Turner  made their way out to the centre for the toss ,it was Travis Head that called it and decided to bat putting WA in the field .The weather in this match affected the number of over’s played In this match Instead of playing 50 over’s a side ,the over’s were changed so each side played 35 overs .South Australia openers Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald made their way out to the centre ,the new ball was thrown to WA opening bowler Matthew Kelly with Liam Guthrie bowling from the other end ,it was Liam Guthrie that took the first wicket dismissing Alex Carey after he was caught by behind by Josh Philippe for 5 runs ,SA are now 1/7,the incoming batter is Travis Head and together this partnership over the next 5 over’s added 40 runs to the SA total before Travis Head was out caught behind for 28 runs off the bowling of Lance Morris ,SA are now 2/47 .The new batter to make his way out is Nathan McSweeney ,unfortunately 5 balls later McSweeney was making his way back to the pavilion after being caught behind for a duck ,SA are now 3/48 in the ninth over.Harry Neilson is the next batter to take centre and together with Jake Weatherald over the next 13 over’s added 66 runs before Harry Neilson was clean bowled by Liam Guthrie for 21 runs ,SA are now 4/114 in the 23rd over .Ryan Gibson was the next batter to take centre ,over the next 5 over’s this added 24 runs before Jake Weatherald was out caught off the bowling of Matthew Kelly for 60 well made runs ,SA are now 5/138 runs. Daniel Worrall is the new batter to come out ,next ball Ryan Gibson was out for 14 runs after being caught of the bowling of Matthew Kelly ,SA are now 6/138 with just under 6 over’s remaining .Nathan McAndrew came out to partner Daniel Worrall and take the total to 193 off the 35 over’s .Matthew Kelly and Liam Guthrie each got 2 wickets while Cameron Green and Lance Morris each picked up a wicket each.

Due to the interruptions caused by the weather Western Australia started off chasing the 193 set by SA but with DLS used took the total to 165 runs in 27 over’s .WA openers Josh Philippe and Sam Whiteman made their way out to face up to the SA opening bowling attack of Daniel Worrall and Brendan Doggett .The WA batters put 30 runs on the board before Sam White was caught off the bowling of Brendan Doggett for 7 runs ,WA are now 1/30 .Shaun Marsh is the incoming batter to join Josh Philippee ,this partnership only lasted for 2 over’s before Josh Philippee was out caught off the bowling of Wes Agar for 26 runs ,WA are now 2/41 in the 10th over. Cameron Green came out to join Shaun Marsh ,this partnership put on 32 runs before Cameron Green was out caught off the bowling off Lloyd Pope for 9 runs .WA are now 3/73 ,WA skipper Ashton Turner is the new batter to come out and take centre ,this partnership lasted for 1 run before the skipper was heading back to the pavillion after being caught for a duck off the bowling Lloyd Pope, WA are now 4/74 .D’Arcy Short made his way out to partner Shaun Marsh and together they added the neccesary runs to take WA to a win with 1 over to spare .Shaun Marsh remained on 80 not out while D’Arcy Short got 35 runs not out.SA bowler Lloyd Pope picked up 2 wickets while Brendan Doggett and Nathan McAndrew got a wicket apiece ,Shaun Marsh was awarded Player of the match for his 80 not out .In a match where they started out with 50 overs then due to the weather  the over’s went to 46,then 38,then 35 and finally 27 over’s.WA batted well to adjust to the change in over’s and conditions.
